Determine the structure of your AUP

With your requirements in hand, you’ll now outline the structure and key components of your AUP!

Review the key elements that effective policies typically include. These may include:

• Purpose statement.
• Scope and applicability.
• Definitions of key terms.
• Acceptable and unacceptable uses.
• User responsibilities and expectations.
• Consequences of violations.
• Reporting and enforcement procedures.

Draft an outline for your AUP, incorporating the elements above as applicable. Under each section, jot down the main points you want to cover.

Review your outline against your requirements from Exercise One. Does it cover all the necessary topics and guidelines? Make any needed adjustments.
